Are you afraid that you need to be “in shape” or are “too old” to start CrossFit?

Well, we’re here to tell you that you AREN’T! We believe that ROUND is a SHAPE and we can also guarantee you that we have CrossFitters who are OLDER than you! Here at CrossFit171, we want you as you are now and would love the opportunity to SHOW YOU WHAT YOU CAN BECOME!

At our box, we provide all new members with the CrossFit171 Beginner Course, in order to prove to you that you are capable of overcoming any doubts or questions that you may have about our programs and your abilities.

The Beginner Course at CrossFit171 consists of 3 hours of hands-on education that teaches you the foundations of our program and the components in our daily Workout of the Day. Basically, this course goes over the high points of the CrossFit Level 1 Certification Course and can be used as a great study guide for those that are thinking about getting their certification!

This Course is designed to teach you safety, first and foremost! We will guide and support you as you learn the proper form for each of our movements and how to protect yourself from injury in the Box and in your daily life.

Many of the common movements that you will learn through our Beginner Course include the following: Air Squat, Front Squat (FS), Overhead (OH) Squat, Strict Press, Push Press, Push Jerk (and Split Jerk), Deadlift, Kettlebell Swing, and Med-Ball Cleans. While you learn the safety in the mechanics of each of these exercises, you’ll understand why the CrossFit methodology is so effective in order to meet your goals.

You will learn all of the basic movements and core principles that can be applied to everything else we do here. We will start by breaking down these foundation movements using plastic PVC pipe, so don’t worry if you don’t think you are ready to snatch 175 or flip a dozen tractor tires, we can work up to that if you would like!

This course is 3 hours long and can easily be broken down into 2-3 sessions, as necessary; however, we recommend (3) one-hour sessions for your first week. Additionally, one of our certified coaches will review safety and nutrition with you while also answering any questions that you may have, in order to get you started on your new journey with us.

During your first sessions, we will explain exactly what to expect for your first WOD and explain many of the CrossFit terms that you will hear so that you don’t get “lost” in your first workout.

As a new CrossFitter, you are probably wondering much more about us than just a basic Beginner Course description. If so, and you are brand new to these concepts, please take a look at our COMMON BEGINNER QUESTIONS page.

Speaking of questions, maybe we can go ahead and answer some of those for you– if you don’t find an answer you’re looking for or have any additional questions, please feel free to give us a call, email, or heck– even text us! We want to hear from you!

ANYONE can do it!”

“I love Crossfit 171 because I found an amazing community and gained some best friends.  Also, Crossfit has helped me accomplish fitness goals that I have never been able to before, even though I was a collegiate athlete and spending all my days in a regular gym.  There is something about structured, goal-oriented workouts guided by a trainer and good music.”
